Richard d´Alton

Born in Cork, Ireland, Richard d'Alton is a graduated dancer and certified teacher of the National Ballet School of Cuba. Mr. d'Alton was a dancer with the National Ballet of Cuba and a Principal Dancer with Orlando Ballet working directly with Artistic Director Fernando Bujones.
He is a three time Outstanding Choreographer of Youth America Grand Prix and has been a Guest Teacher at leading organizations around the world including the Royal Ballet School - Covent Garden, Czech National Ballet (Národní Divadlo - Prague), Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet School, Vienna State Opera Ballet School, Polish National Ballet, Tanzcompany Innsbruck, the National Moravian-Silesian Ballet, Dresden Semperoper Ballett, Balletto di Siena, and the Lithuania National Opera & Ballet Theatre, among many others. He has also given class at Elmhurst Ballet School, English National Ballet School, and the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. As a choreographer he has created works for professional dancers from companies including: Bejart Ballet, Houston Ballet, Ballet de Monterrey, Teatrul de Ballet Sibiu, Sarasota Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet, among others.
Mr. d'Alton's students have been accepted to prestigious year-round programs at schools globally including The Princess Grace Academy (Monte Carlo), The John Cranko School (Stuttgart), Canada's National Ballet School, The Ailey School (New York), The Royal Ballet School of Antwerp (Belgium), Accademia Teatro alla Scala (Milan), JKO School at American Ballet Theatre (USA), Central School of Ballet (UK), and English National Ballet School, among many others.
His dancers have also competed at recognized competitions including the 37th Prix de Lausanne, 9th Helsinki International Ballet Competition, 5th Nureyev Dance Competition, Dance World Cup, and Youth America Grand Prix (Paris, Italy, and New York Finals).
His former students have gone on to work with professional companies including: Alberta Ballet, BalletMet Columbus, Louisville Ballet, Teatrul de Ballet Sibiu, Sarasota Ballet, Ballet Florida, Cincinnati Ballet, the National Moravian-Silesian Ballet, the Royal Swedish Ballet, and many others.
In addition Mr. d'Alton has been a Judge at competitions including: Magic World Dance Festival (Bulgaria), Dance World Cup (Spain), Bucharest Dance Festival (Romania), Concurso Expression (Italy), Algarve Dance Open (Portugal), CPH Open (Denmark), and Rome Dance Contest (Italy). In October 2022 he became an International Championship Adjudicator for the World Artistic Dance Federation and judged his first WADF official event in Poland. Currently he is a Freelance teacher and choreographer.
